Drakensberg Accommodation

All of the holiday listed on this website is located on the private estate of Bergview in the Champagne valley area of the Central Drakensberg mountains.The region was awarded world heritage status in November 2000 and is unique as it has met the criteria for both cultural and natural world heritage properties. Recognition was given because of it's richness of biological diversity, it's endemic and endangered species, it' superlative natural beauty as well as it's masterpieces of human creative genius in the form of some 35 000 san rock art images. Due to it's location Bergview offers it's visitors a unique holiday experience. Sun hotel and resort is our neighbor and Bergview guests are afforded full use of the facilities they have on offer(The current agreement with the Bergview Home Owners Association is that access to the hotel
for visitors to Bergview will be at the discretion of the hotel and shall be subject to control by the hotel.). These include trout fishing and boating on the lake, swimming in the pools,tennis, bowls, squash, gym, horse riding,mashe golf plus more. Many of the beautiful hiking trails the Drakensberg has to offer start right on our doorstep. The in Bergview varies from no frills to luxury and caters for those just wanting a place to stay overnight to others looking to stay longer.

Some of the properties are within easy walking distance to the hotel whilst others are situated on top of the surrounding hills. All have beautiful views.Weather permitting the night skies are clear and due to low light pollution you will be amazed at the amount of stars above you.

During the day the amount and variety of birdlife makes this a birdwatchers paradise. The estate is safe and secure and access is only granted to permit holders.This is controlled by security guards at the entrance. All roads are tarred. In the nearby area there are many more activities such as golf at Champagne sports resort, white water rafting (seasonal), quad bikes,bird of prey demonstrations,helicopter flights,shopping at the numerous art and craft outlets, restaurants, horse riding ,concerts at the world renowned Drakensberg boys choir school and wherever you go there is always the spectacular scenery to keep you company! Bergview truly has something for everybody whether it be unwinding at the pool,walking or playing we are certain you will enjoy your stay and we look forward to seeing you soon.

KHOTSO HORSE TRAILS Khotso Horse Trails are located in the central Drakensberg at the Drakensberg sun hotel and at Scrumpy Jacks farm stall on the main road (R600) next to the Nest hotel. We offer a variety of options to riders and cater for all ages including pony rides for young children. All riders are accompanied by expert guides and mandatory safety equipment is provided.
